A chip sealed early stays a chip. Left alone in Arizona heat, it becomes a crack and a full replacement.

A windshield chip is a small void in laminated glass, and glass moves with temperature. In Arizona a car sits in direct sun until the glass is far hotter than the cabin, then someone starts the engine and puts cold air straight onto the inside face.
That differential is what turns a chip into a run. It is also why a chip that survived all winter can fail in a single afternoon in July.
The air is drawn out of the void and clear resin drawn in under vacuum, then cured and polished flush. It restores the structural integrity of the laminate and stops the chip traveling.
It is worth being straight about the cosmetics: a repaired chip is usually much less visible, but it is rarely invisible. Anyone promising it will vanish completely is overselling it.
Chips smaller than roughly a coin, and short cracks, are usually repairable. A long crack, damage directly in the driver’s line of sight, or a chip that has already contaminated with dirt and water will generally need a replacement instead.
Bring it in sooner rather than later — the window for a repair closes as the damage grows, and a replacement costs many times more.
Call before it runs. A chip repaired this week is a great deal cheaper than a windshield next week.
